Our Artist......

We have an artist in the family. On Tuesday, our daughter came home saying that her artwork was at the mall. She was so excited. She said a teacher came into the classroom and said she had an announcement to make and asked it she would stand up. The teacher announced to the whole class that her picture was on display at the mall with artwork from students all over the county.

In art class, they have been studing Vincent Van Gogh. The teacher asked the students to draw his Sunflowers painting. She did a really great job using Vincent Van Gohg's masterpiece for inspiration and adding a few touches of her own!

Last night we went to the mall to see the exhibit (and have an ice cream) .

Our Artist's Original work.....

Vincent Van Gohg's original work.....

It has been a lot of fun listening to her talk about art being at the mall. She has told just about everyone that we run into. She is so proud of her accomplishment, and we are so proud of her too!

Two Good Things Tuesday

Today I did two good things. One for myself and one for someone else.
  1. I got up at 5:10 and went to the Y. I ran 2 miles, then lifted 9,720 lbs. Not all at once, 12 reps on 14 machines. Then I came home and ate oatmeal.
  2. I donated blood.

A Good News Day.

I like these kind of days. Good news. Last week I ordered new countertops for our kitchen. When I ordered them, the guy said it would take about 5 weeks before they are installed. I thought "Oh well, it'll be worth the wait." This morning I got a call from the company that will make and install them. She scheduled the template install for next Tuesday, and the install for the Tuesday after that! Wahoo, I don't have to wait until May!

Then I get to work and I'm instant messaging with my user that is testing our new release. She tells me that she was testing on Friday and the "weirdest thing happened....." she didn't run into any errors! I know that doesn't say much for our system, but that is the way this release has been going. We may have it done by this time next week.

The girls are good. #1's rash is just about gone. We have a teacher conference with #2's teacher tomorrow. Nothing serious! They just have conferences instead on report cards for the 3rd quarter.

Well back to my book. (that the other reason I haven't' been blogging). I've got only 50 pages left of the "DiVinci Code" to go. I wanted to read the book before the movie comes out. It's very exciting right now. Maybe I shouldn't pick it up. I may be up too late if I do! :)

OK, So I'm Not so good at Keepin' Up

Well, I guess I'm not too good at keeping up a blog. I can't say it is because I haven't had time, a lot has to do with I don't know what to say. So here is a brain dump on the week. Better than nothin' eh?

This week went really fast. We are still trying to get the new release of my system out and I had a long, long..... long session with my new director, telling him about the systems I support, and that just wore me out. Then on Thursday, I find out that he has reorganized the whole group and I will have a new boss. I'm okay with it though. The new boss is a good guy, I've worked with him on projects before. Lots of changes to get used to. It will probably be a good thing in the long run. I think some change will be good.

I took the day off on Friday. I went for a run in the a.m. and then did some shopping. It was a nice relaxing day.

Daughter number 1 has had a mysterious rash. Took her to the Dr. on Thursday and they think it is scabbies. YUK. I'm not convinced though. That is very contagious and daughter #2 has not had a single little mark on her. We followed the treatment and it appears to be clearing up a bit, but that may be because she is getting two doses of anti-histamine a day. The bumbs are still there, but the redness is gone. I may see if I can get her to a dermatologist this week.

Saturday was spent doing a bit of de-cluttering. I finally cleared out a cabinate in the kitchen that has been dropping stuff on my head every time I open it and we cleared out all the old videos and junk from the entertainment center.

We spent the night last night with my mother-in-law. She seems to be doing well. We went before dinner and left after breakfast. The girls had a good time playing together and MawMaw enjoyed the company.

Today we ate lunch on the patio and then I did some yard work while the husband took a load to Goodwill. The kids played outside all day and enjoyed a treat from the ice cream truck when it stopped by.

Not much on the agenda this week. We will be preparing for a busy Saturday. I have a scrapbook crop to go to Friday night and Saturday and both of us have to work on Sat. evening. Have a good week.
